Accessibility Statement

The standard we work to

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA. These guidelines are the basis of the European standard EN 301 549 and of the French référentiel général d'amélioration de l'accessibilité (RGAA).

Our current assessment is that the site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. "Partially conformant" means that most of the site meets the standard, and that the exceptions we know about are listed below.

What we have done

Accessibility has been treated as part of building the site rather than as a later pass. In particular:

• the site is built from semantic HTML, with one main landmark, proper headings in order, and lists marked up as lists;
• everything can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, including the sliding panels, which trap focus while open, close on Escape, and return focus where it was;
• a visible focus indicator is drawn on every interactive element, with a halo so it is clear against both light and dark backgrounds;
• text meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required at level AA, and interface components meet 3:1; contrast was measured programmatically across every page rather than judged by eye;
• interactive targets are at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels, and most are 44 by 44;
• on/off state is never signalled by colour alone: switches carry both a position and a tick;
• every photograph carries alternative text describing what is in it, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology;
• a skip link is the first thing in the tab order;
• panels are announced as dialogs, are labelled, and are marked as modal;
• the site is fully usable at 200% zoom and reflows to a single column without loss of content or horizontal scrolling;
• animation is decorative only, and is switched off entirely for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion;
• the site is published in fourteen languages, each with the correct language attribute, and Hebrew and Arabic are laid out right to left throughout rather than mirrored approximately;
• no content flashes, blinks or moves automatically in a way that cannot be stopped.

The three-dimensional virtual tour

The interactive tour of the penthouse is provided by a third party and is embedded from their platform. We do not control its markup or its keyboard behaviour, and it may not be fully usable with a screen reader. The photograph gallery covers the same rooms and is fully accessible; if you would like a described walk-through, please ask and we will provide one.

Maps and booking platforms

Links leave our site for services operated by others, whose accessibility we do not control.

Machine translation

Thirteen of the fourteen language versions are translated with the assistance of machine translation and reviewed. Wording may occasionally read awkwardly in a screen reader even where it is technically correct.

PDF documents

We publish none. If we ever do, they will be tagged for accessibility.

How we assessed the site

The site has been assessed by self-evaluation, combining automated testing with manual checks. Automated testing covered contrast ratios, target sizes, alternative text, heading order, labelling and horizontal overflow, at mobile, tablet and desktop widths, in both left-to-right and right-to-left languages. Manual testing covered keyboard operation, focus order, focus trapping in dialogs and behaviour at high zoom.

The site has not yet been audited by an independent third party or tested formally with a panel of assistive technology users. We would like to do both.

Technical specifications

Accessibility of this site relies on HTML, CSS, SVG and JavaScript. The site is designed to work with current versions of the major browsers on desktop and mobile, together with the assistive technologies commonly used with them. Core content and the whole concierge catalogue are present in the HTML and remain readable if JavaScript is unavailable.
